Physical Training Exams

All cadets need to be in good physical condition to pass the physical training tests. You need to be able to pass the SFO entrance physical training test (PT) to complete your application process. The entrance PT test dates will be held prior to the start of the SFO session.
In Addition to the SFO entrance PT exam, you will also have to pass an exit physical training test. Details of the tests are as follows:

SFO Entrance:

  • Vertical Jump – 14.5 inches
  • Sit-Ups – 23 reps (One Minute)
  • Push Ups – 14 Reps (Max repetitions with no time constraint and no rest during this phase of the test)
  • 1.5 Mile Run- 16:11

SFO Exit / LEO Entrance:

  • Vertical Jump – 15 inches
  • Sit-Ups -25 reps (One Minute)
  • 300 Meter – 70 seconds
  • Push Ups – 16 Reps (Max repetitions with no time constraint and no rest during this phase of the test)
  • 1.5 Mile Run – 15:37

LEO Exit:

  • Vertical Jump – 17.5 inches
  • Sit-Ups – 29 (One Minute)
  • 300 Meter – 64 Seconds
  • Push ups – 21 (Maximum repetitions with no time constraint and no rest during this phase of the test)
  • 1.5 Mile Run – 14:46

Recommended Order:

The procedure and order for testing is recommended as follows:

  1. Warm up for 3 minutes; perform the vertical jump test and rest for two minutes.
  2. Perform the one minute sit up test and rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
  3. Perform the 300 meter run, then rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Perform the maximum push up test, then rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
  5. Do cardio-warmup for 2 to 3 minutes, then perform the 1.5 mile run and cardio-cool down for 5 minutes.
